Aston Carter’s large public client is seeking a Sr Accountant to join their team on a 6 month contract with the intent to hire permanently. This role is located in Calgary and has hybrid opportunities.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Financial Reporting, the Sr Accountant will be part of the financial reporting team.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Prepare annual financial statements and supporting working papers in accordance with IFRS, coordinate communication & information internally, and act as the primary audit contact with external auditors
•Prepare quarterly reports for detailed qualitative and quantitative data analysis for presentation to Sr Management and distribution to partners
•Prepare various working papers in support of quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A
•Prepare various financial and operational analysis for the desk and field audits relating to credit facility
•Prepare quarterly internal financial statements for various legal entities for management, tax, and board review
•Assist with the maintenance of the company’s financial close including data clean-up, validation and participate in new ERP implementation
•Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments
•Proactively identify and assist in the implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the financial reporting group
•Coach and mentor other team members
•Assist with ad hoc requests as required
Qualifications:
Must Haves:
•2+ years post CPA Designation
•2-3+ years in a professional accounting role
•Experience in preparing year-end packages, including financial statements and notes
•Previous experience in internal and external audits
•Advanced MS Excel experience
Nice to Have:
•Working experience with SAP Business One, Wdesk and Oracle EPM Cloud considered an asset
