The Axial Programme will be powered by S/4HANA a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system which will be implemented right across the organisation and will provide our business with standardised processes, enhanced financial management, common data and real time reporting, transforming the way we work through our entire supply chain – from bench to patient.
The new system will be used by more than 20,000 employees daily, is foundational to all AZ entities and is central to most core business processes. This is a once in a generation programme for AstraZeneca and will shape our ways of working globally for many years to come.

We now have an opportunity for an Enterprise Process Lead – Accounts Payable to join the programme.
As EPL, you will own and be accountable for ensuring the effective design of our Accounts Payable processes within the core ERP environment. You will lead a team of SMEs in the definition, design and ongoing improvement of the processes and tools to ensure efficient, effective and transparent ways of working.
You will contribute to setting the strategic direction for the process with the Executive Process Owner (EPO) and drive the process towards that strategic direction. You will ensure you are not just defining the Payables capabilities to support our business today, but enabling our future needs as part of our acceleration towards our Ambition 2030
The Accounts Payable system landscape includes the ERP design for the full cycle of the process from document reception to payment execution. Within the scope of Accounts Payable are T&E process and Non PO based payments. These elements should all integrate seamlessly with our ERP to maximise the efficiency and consistency of our PtP processes while embracing the opportunities presented by S/4HANA.
You’ll lead the process network to drive process maturity and continuous improvements, linking with connected EPLs to ensure alignment across Plan, Source, Make & Deliver business processes.
What You’ll Do
- Recruit and lead a team of SMEs.
- Design and own the global processes including standards and procedures
- Provide thought leadership and strategic input into the optimal adoption of S/4 HANA technology
- Drive integration standards, harmonisation and alignment to the process
- Partner with the Data teams to ensure the S/4 HANA data model and data cleansing activities support the Account Payable processes and target key performance indicators
- Document the process to appropriate level of detail and to relevant compliant requirements & assure relevant documentation and SOPs are trained in place with Users
- Facilitate sharing of good practice and learning
- Identify issues and risks, highlighting as required and managing through Business Risk Log
- Manage links with related processes and relationship with key partners (including key Procurement Leadership Team members)
- Own business continuity plan for the process if required
Essential for the role:
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in relevant scientific or business field
- Solid understanding of business process management, and establishing and governance global standard processes.
- Good knowledge of how own process area is transacted in SAP
- Extensive experience of leading transformational business change within a pharmaceutical environment
- Ability to influence and persuade tactfully, to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive, organisational relationships
- Strong influencing skills in a matrix organisation
