Reporting to the Supervisor, Project Accounting, this role will support project accounting responsibilities and assist in month end deliverables, the preparation of regulatory proceedings, annual business plans, monthly forecasts and analyzing financial information to support decision-making.

What You Get to Do:
Prepare materials for review by the Project Accounting team as well as Business Leaders

Assist in the completion of annual business plan material.

Develops, prepares, documents, and oversees monitoring reports and adherence to project controls. Including drafting of work instructions and training staff.

Preparation of monthly account reconciliations including identification of errors and root cause follow-up.

Oversee the management of WIP interfacing to Fixed Assets including Identifying investigating, analyzing and resolving complex issues.

Prepare monthly forecast information in support of the forecasting and variance reporting processes.

Prepare monthly Journal Entries and MEBs including the settlement of intercompany transactions for the regulated and non-regulated companies.

Post Interest during construction and various burden transactions for the entirety of the regulated capital program.

Independently reviews and loads Fixed Asset assignments provided by the clerical staff, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.

Assist with the onboarding of new accounting personnel.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance or Accounting

3-5 years of experience in an Accounting Department

Demonstrated expert level proficiency and advanced use of Microsoft Office programs

Experience with Oracle Cloud and OTBI Reporting tool would be an asset

Experience with EPBCS Production Planning and Smartview would be an asset

Experience in the processes and practices of Financial Reporting, General Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting, Project Accounting, Project Lifecycle & Controls and Payables.

Ability to effectively plan and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines and resolve conflicting priorities.

Ability to develop relationships required to co-ordinate information from other work.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)

Proven ability to conduct quality assurance and control activities on own work and work of others

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
