Major Duties
Works with the ATS design team, project manager, and the customer to develop, test, and implement system solutions, that meet the customer’s process requirements including prototype machines or systems. Direct responsibility for mechanical systems, with input and support for controls software and hardware.
Specific Responsibilites
Primary responsibilities:
Provides input and review of design requirements and drawings
Prepares, or provides input to specifications, test plans and procedures, acceptance test plans
Accountable for the system or tooling testing. Executes testing, prepares test reports.
Responsible for learning a customer process and becoming the local expert in it, to support the design and eventually the integration of the machine once it is built.
Provides site support for tooling and equipment
Trouble-shooting tooling and equipment
Participates in the integration of some or all of the tasks for which he/she has design responsibilities
Performs hands-on testing of designed apparatus to mitigate high technical risks (proof of principle and technical studies).
Provide technical support to ATS’ worldwide divisions.
Evaluates test results for conformance to design input requirements
Conducts design verification testing to confirm that design output meets the design input requirements
Responsible for performing design validation under defined operating conditions
Participates in the commissioning of prototype and production machines
Assists in the development design and testing and verification of systems design concept and labour hours budget in quote preparation
Assists in systems design and development planning, execution and monitoring including Identifying development activities
Provide engineering and assembly support related to construction of CSA B51 and CSA N285.0 pressure boundary components within the ATS Certificate of Authorization.
Strictly follow CSA N285/NQA Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures
Requires Nuclear Energy Worker status, and work in radioactive environment including nuclear site work
Additional responsibilities:
Participates in design reviews with customers, vendors and internal design groups
Coordinates project activities with suppliers of process critical third party equipment
Conducts acceptance tests and approving process critical third party equipment
Plans and conducts experiments on high risk system elements to validate design assumptions
Works with the project team and Systems Specialist to solve design related problems.
Reviews machine performance from internal factory acceptance tests conducted on prototype machines
Assists with continuous systems design improvements on production machines.
Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
