Position Overview
Autodesk has built one of the most impactful content creation software production teams in the world. We are seeking a Software Development Manager to join our Maya team . In this role, you will be central to our success – a collaborator who bridges customer needs and engineering requirements with an eye towards an innovative future.
Projects will include animation feature workflows and performance optimizations. There will be interesting opportunities to lead and collaborate on projects that leverage GPU computation, multi-threading, and scalable algorithms. Working on the Maya team will involve exposure to a wide variety of VFX and Games technologies, open-source initiatives (e.g., USD, AnimX, OTIO), language integrations / APIs (e.g., Python, C++).
We are looking for an individual with strong organization and communication skills who can succeed at both leading technical projects and people management. You should be as enthusiastic about building and motivating a team as you are about the challenging technical problems that you and your team will solve.
As a technical leader, you will be expected to contribute to project execution and technical strategic planning. In addition, you are motivated by connecting with customers to understand their production challenges and excited to work towards scalable solutions for them.
Our digital content creation tools (DCCs) form the incredible software backbone of the entertainment industry. From modeling to animation to texturing, rendering, and VFX you will be a passionate advocate for the transformative features used in some of the most beloved video games, feature films, and animation productions around the globe.
Responsibilities
Manage one or more distributed teams of software developers, providing both technical and managerial leadership
Collaborate with others in cross-functional roles including product management, design, software architects, and other stakeholders to achieve shared business goals and impact on product vision & strategy
Organize and track software development activities to continually make progress on the product roadmap
Communicate the status of projects to internal stakeholders
Participate in customer meetings to maintain an awareness of their priorities
Support the agile development process within the team.
Work with individual team members, promoting a culture of continuous improvement through ongoing feedback and coaching
Support individual training and career development.
Minimum Qualifications
8-10+ years of progressive technical work experience in software development
Experience in a software development leadership role is a must
Experience working in VFX, Animation or Games studios
Ability to break down complex problems into user-focused solutions
Proven ability to handle multiple competing priorities, and ability to adapt in a flexible and fast paced environment
Creative thinker and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills; enjoy working with and collaborating with both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity working within a large organization
Experience and proven skills with high level programming languages (e.g. C++) and scripting (e.g. Python)
Comfortable in a cross-platform software development environment (Windows, Linux, OS X)
Solid understanding of principles involved in the development of scalable, performant software, leveraging hardware and software solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in feature film or game development and pipelines
Familiar with established and emerging technologies used in VFX and Games development (e.g. USD)
Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM development environment
Experience with Maya, 3ds Max or similar DCCs/tools in production
Exposure to the open source software development model

En tant que chef technique, vous devrez contribuer à l’exécution des projets et à la planification stratégique technique. Vous collaborerez avec d’autres employés à des postes interfonctionnels, notamment la gestion des produits, la conception, les architectes logiciels et d’autres intervenants, en vue d’atteindre des objectifs communs. En outre, vous devez être motivé par la conversation avec les clients, être capable de comprendre leurs défis de production et enthousiaste à l’idée de travailler à des solutions évolutives pour eux.
Nos outils de création de contenu numérique constituent l’incroyable pilier logiciel du secteur des divertissements. De la modélisation à l’animation en passant par la texturation, le rendu et les effets visuels, vous serez un ardent défenseur des caractéristiques transformatrices utilisées dans certains jeux vidéo, longs métrages et productions d’animation les plus populaires à travers le monde.
Responsabilités
Gérer une ou plusieurs équipes distribuées de développeurs de logiciels, en assurant une direction technique et de gestion
Collaborer avec les responsables de produits afin d’élaborer la vision et la stratégie du produit
Organiser et suivre les activités de développement de logiciels pour progresser en permanence par rapport à la feuille de route du produit
Communiquer l’état des projets à des intervenants internes
Participer à des réunions avec les clients pour connaître leurs priorités
Soutenir le processus de développement Agile au sein de l’équipe.
Travailler avec chaque membre de l’équipe, en promouvant une culture d’amélioration permanente au moyen d’une rétroaction et d’un encadrement permanents
Encourager la formation individuelle et l’évolution de carrière.
Exigences minimales
8 à 10 ans d’expérience progressive de travail technique en développement de logiciels
Expérience de gestion d’équipe de développeurs de logiciel
Expérience dans les domaines du film, effets visuels ou jeu vidéo
Capacité à décomposer des problèmes complexes en solutions axées sur les utilisateurs
Capacité éprouvée à gérer plusieurs priorités concurrentes et à s’adapter à un environnement flexible et dynamique
Capacité à penser de façon créative et solides compétences en analyse et en résolution de problèmes
Excellentes compétences en communication, envie de travailler et de collaborer avec des publics techniques et non spécialisés
Solides compétences interpersonnelles et aisance à travailler dans une grande entreprise
Expérience et compétences éprouvées avec des langages de programmation de haut niveau (par exemple, C++) et de script (par exemple, Python)
