The Role & Responsibilities: AutoShack is an Ottawa based E-commerce company with 40+ years’ experience in the automotive industry. AutoShack is looking for a Financial Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, forecast preparations, and business plans as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Financial Controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management. Key responsibilities include: Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
Research technical accounting issues for compliance
Support month-end and year-end close process
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Education, Experience, and Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: A degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience in a Controller role, preferably in a public accounting or equivalent combination. Ideally, having experience working in an ERP environment would be a strong asset.
CPA/CA designation is required.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Experience with creating financial statements. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
Excellent accounting software user and administration skills. Advanced Excel abilities including v-lookups and pivot tables are a requirement
Attention to detail, and excellent time management to effectively meet timelines
Ability to hire, supervise, lead and motivate staff accountants
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Self-driven and motivated
A demanding work schedule and comfortable interacting with and being accountable to Company President
