AV Group NB Inc. is currently recruiting for the following position located in Atholville, NB: Sr. Financial Analyst

Reporting to the Head of Finance (Canada Pulp Business), the Sr. Financial Analyst will take a lead role in management reporting, budgetary control, variance analysis, provide accurate information to support decision making, compliance with corporate policies and IFRS.
Responsibilities:

FINANCIAL REPORTING & GENERAL ACCOUNTING

• Responsible to prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages (MIS File) and ensuring compliance with established timelines;
• Responsible to prepare financial forecast every month for next month and full year;
• Oversee all accounting processes during the month to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting entries;
• Reconciliation of GL accounts of the Profit Centre and ensure accurate GL balance at all point of time;
• Conduct variance and trend analysis to identify and recommend process improvements;
• Prepare monthly financial presentation highlighting key financials, achievements, risk, challenges etc.

BUDGETING & FORECASTING

• Coordinate the budgeting and forecasting process to ensure compliance with established timelines;
• Prepare the next year’s budget ensuring that all possible risks and uncertainties are considered after extensive discussion with Mill Management and concerned department heads;
• Prepare and maintain the annual budget within Hyperion including the MIS budgeting file;
• Prepare executive-level explanations for deviations and variances from established trends such as prices or activity levels.

COMPLIANCE & CONTROLS

• Update and retain a working knowledge of internal and external financial and operational standards and policies;
• Ensure financial processes and operational processes interfacing with finance adheres to required standards and policies;
• Ensure company accounting policies and procedures are in accordance with Canadian GAAP/IFRS;
• Responsible for implementing effective controls and ensuring compliance of the controls;
• Ensure that there is proper documentation in place for RPA and CPA approvals and that paper documentation agrees with Soft Documentation;
• Ensure compliance of delegation manual and educate non-Finance personnel on financial authorization, limits, and delegation of authority in respect of purchases and financial expenditure;
• Keep Management update of non-compliance if any and highlight issues promptly.

BUSINESS SUPPORT

• Develop daily/regular reports to track costs and consumption in almost real-time and take control/corrective actions;
• Engage IT in the automation of regular reports for easy access and to reduce manual involvement. Automate CPA, RPA, MSD, Maintenance and Overheads spending Reports;
• Regularly Conduct extensive and in-depth analysis to establish and identify beneficial/non-beneficial trends on various aspects of business operations such as material consumption, overhead levels, labor overtime, and other general areas;
• Advise management on process improvements options alongside proper business case considerations to eliminate waste and redundancies and improve operational efficiency ;
• Propose new innovations/projects that can help reduce inefficiencies and improve profitability;
• Document critical processes in walk-through SOPs and Manuals to promote the concept of processes over people.

ASSIT WITH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL AUDIT

• Co-ordinate with Internal departments for timely submission of data to auditors;
• Provide required data and explanation to Auditors;
• Ensure adherence and compliance of action items of the Audit Report.

Qualifications

• CPA or Qualified Accountant;
• 3- 5 years Working experience in the accounting department of manufacturing company;
• Experience in MS Office (specifically Excel);
• Preferably worked in an ERP system (specifically SAP and Hyperion) would be a benefit;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• High level of motivation, energy and a desire to work in a dynamic team environment.
