About the Role:
Axiom Builders is seeking a motivated Accounts Payable Specialist to assist with high-volume, complex accounting while servicing numerous stakeholders both internally and externally. Reporting directly to the Accounts Payable Manager, you will perform various tasks, such as, processing invoices, reconciliations, and employee reimbursements. As part of detail-oriented and fast-paced team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build relationships with professionals across all departments in the company within their role. Key responsibilities include:
- Promote a customer-service and employee-friendly culture within the Accounts Payable/Accounting department and within the company;
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and staff at all levels (site and office) to gather information and respond to inquiries in a timely professional manner;
- Review incoming invoices for compliance requirements, e.g. ensure accuracy of taxes on invoices (GST and PST), accurate coding and approvals before processing;
- Code, post, and process invoices for payments within established timelines;
- Match and process incoming vendor invoices against system-generated Purchase Orders;
- Process employee expense reimbursements;
- Prepare invoicing for chargebacks and intercompany transactions;
- Reconcile vendor account and credit card statements;
- Assist with other AP, accounting tasks, and projects as required.

You are a fast learner, attentive to detail, and have exceptional organizational and time management skills that allow you to work quickly and accurately in a results-oriented environment. You will work well individually and as part of a team while demonstrating a positive and enthusiastic attitude. You excel at interpersonal relations and are comfortable reaching out to a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business, both on-site and office. You value learning opportunities and want to grow your career as an accounting professional.
Required Skills and Experience
- Degree, diploma, or certification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field;
- Excellent business verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);
- Proficient at working in a digital and paper-free environment;
- Some experience in accounting or administration will be considered an asset;
- Experience with Acumatica ERP or Sage/Timberline systems will be considered an asset;
- Prior experience in a construction or job costing environment will be considered an asset.
