Position Overview:
Backstreet Creative is looking for a part-time/contract Graphic Designer. As a contract designer you will be responsible for the development and production of creative artwork. You can choose to work remotely or out of our corporate office in the 124th street business area. You will work with the Creative Director and Art Director to design and develop creative solutions for clients and ensure that projects are completed on time and in scope. You will apply your skills to various mediums including digital, branding, print, and more.

You will work with our team and contribute to the development of client brands, brand assets, websites, digital campaigns and the final production of artwork. As we are continually expanding our business, we are currently looking to welcome a creative, skilled and motivated Graphic Designer to our team.
Creative Design & Production Job Requirements:
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud. (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Strong problem solving and conceptual skills.
Experience in designing brands and full campaigns, with both online and print applications.
Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in graphic design and visual branding.
Exceptional sense of visual design, including typography, colour theory, production and layout, file preparation and pre-flighting.
Ability to work independently.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Understanding of current web standards, principles and best practices with regards to digital marketing, display ads, and social media.
Ability to clearly communicate ideas and collaborate at all levels.
WordPress experience (Our company uses DIVI to develop websites in-house as well as with outside web contractors for our clients)
Strong time management and organizational skills, ability to manage timelines and client deadlines as well as keep detailed reporting of your daily project by project hours.
Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and attention to detail.
Ability to receive and apply constructive criticisms from peers and clients.
Strong online portfolio of previous work.
A knack for beautiful design and aesthetics.
Your responsibilities include:
Research, design, and layout artwork for both digital and print applications.
Provide visual concepts and ideas for development.
Derive client brands, campaigns and marketing materials from concept to finalization.
Present ideas and concepts to the Creative Director and Art Director.
Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with the Art Director or Creative Director or clients for a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, reports, print collateral, posters, brochures, signage, annual reports, brand identities, communication material, newsletters, social content, and marketing materials.
Monitor and meet various design deadlines without compromising the quality of output or deliverables.
Prepare and submit design drafts for approval.
Come up with new, creative and fresh ideas for visual design and marketing projects and implement them when appropriate.
Work within each client project’s respective brand identity to translate overarching strategic direction into high-quality design assets.
Additional Skills (Asset):
Experience with motion graphics, including animation and gifs. (eg. Adobe After Effects)
Video editing skills.
Knowledge of design for Search Engine Marketing.
HTML/CSS experience.
Experience in social media content creation.
Experience and/or knowledge using WordPress for content input. Experience in other web tools is an asset (eg. Shopify, Woo Commerce, DIVI, AVADA, Elementor etc.)
Experience designing for digital applications, including websites, social media platforms, e-newsletters, display ads, etc.
Experience:
5 years in graphic design experience.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Graphic Design or Visual Communication.
