The Barkley Project Group are project managers specializing in renewable energy development and community energy systems. Since 2003, they have provided the capacity and support needed for communities and developers to navigate the entire renewable energy development process, from idea to operation.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this full-time position of Junior Accountant will include a variety of primary responsibilities that include supporting month-end processes, maintenance of accounts payable and receivable and various daily administrative tasks.
What You Will Be Doing
- Supporting the accounting department by providing accurate and timely financial information, including:
- Month-end accounting and bank reconciliations.
- Maintaining payable and receivable accounts using Sage accounting software.
- Processing employee expense reimbursement requests.
- Preparing monthly cost allocation journal entries.
- Communicating and following-up on financial matters with customers, suppliers, employees and other departments.
- Preparing, examining and analyzing accounting records and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedure standards.
- Creating, updating and communicating accounting policies, processes and procedures.
- Working with the CFO and other finance team members to ensure the integrity of all financial information, reports, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and others.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
- A diploma in accounting or related education is required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable and/or account receivable required.
- Previous experience with Sage, considered an asset.
- Proficient computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Very strong attention to detail.
Work environment
- Remote work, mostly from a home office.
- Office hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday with some flexibility in start and end times.
Compensation & Benefits
- The wage range for this position is between $24.00-27.00 per hour.
- Extended health & dental benefits and paid sick time also included.
