Your Role:
In this position, you will be responsible for leading and collaborating with the logistics team to support:
3PL relationship management oversight with regards to transportation
Cost tracking and VIP management for transportation related activities
Escalation support within Baxter and the 3PL with regards to day-to-day and ongoing challenges
Driving accountability with the 3PL in terms of adhering to SOPs and Baxter processes while looking for continuous improvement opportunities
Oversight of financials in terms of validating transportation expenses against agreed upon charge structures
Evaluation and development of internal Baxter projects with regards to communication between cross-functional teams and future business needs (Ex. NPI, Inbound distribution changes)
What you’ll do:
Lead or support operational excellence/continuous improvement transportation initiatives that will improve cost and service and accelerate digital transformation.
Responsible to work directly with 3PL to review KPIs and identify gaps with aligned corrective actions.
Assist in short and long term planning strategies to include immediate and/or phased action plans for high impact, high valued projects.
Transportation:
Collaborating with 3PL by partaking in transportation related reviews (Tier Meetings, weekly transportation touchpoints) and overseeing transportation metrics scorecards to ensure all financial and service metrics are consistently achieved,
Identify and implement various VIPs designed to optimize costs across the transportation network including off-schedule and expedite delivery mitigation
Analyze and understand the competitive marketplace to ensure best-in-class transportation processes while addressing regional differences
Work directly with procurement on optimization of costs associated with freight providers
Align with Americas transportation team to leverage best practices and tools available through the broader Baxter Logistics Network
Warehousing:
Support daily operational meetings across 5 DCs
Internal escalation point for system and process related issue impacting daily operation (WMS/JDE)
Ensure weekly, monthly and quarterly inventory reconciliation requirements are met and publish weekly inv reconciliation report
Financials:
Full accountability for delivering freight budget established as part of Annual Operating Plan
Work with finance team to support preparation for the monthly financial and operational reviews with the 3PL provider with regards to transportation billing
Support the commercial team in preparing customer RFP responses relating to logistics/distribution
Provide total logistics escalation support as required for all Baxter transportation
Manage invoice receipt and approval as req’d in line with the P2P process for 3PL and related vendors
Team Leadership (Logistics, Deployment, Inv Reconciliation):
Lead Tier meetings and MBRs with 3PL provider
Serve as a single point of contact for internal Baxter stakeholders (QA, Supply Chain, Complaints, customer care, IT) for Transportation related projects and escalations
Provide coaching and feedback to members of the logistics team, ensuring ongoing employee development, team and individual performance objective alignment and attainment
Coordinate and review work assignments of cross-functional team members to ensure that interdependencies are understood, and established objectives are coordinated and met
Drive accountability for all core internal and 3PL processes including employee engagement and performance management
Support escalation management and enablement of individual ownership of challenges across the team through to completion
Serve as a SME on assigned projects and tasks
Ensure SOPs are reviewed and are up to date
What you’ll have:
Post-secondary degree from a recognized institution in related field
3+ years’ experience in transportation, distribution or warehousing with a focus on 3PLs
Prior experience with a third-party supply chain services company (or equivalent 3PL/4PL direct experience)
Managed a national or large multi-regional transportation operation for a manufacturing organization
Knowledge of the Canada Customs Act and other required regulatory requirements
International import / export distribution management
Management of external carriers and captive fleets
Network optimization (with focus on fleet management and asset maximization solutions)
Ability to facilitate and manage and lead major change initiatives
Project management skills complimented with financial metrics tracking
Application of LEAN principles
Strong Communication and analytical skills along with business problem solving skills
Prior experience with ERP systems (JDE), IT/IS (TMS – solutions implementation and operational management), Warehouse Management System (WMS), Intermediate to expert level of MS Excel
Basic understanding of data import, manipulation and file/report development
Team building and coaching
Nice to have:
2+ years’ experience in CPG or Pharma industry; 1+ years’ experience using JDE
Broad supply chain management experience, multiple disciplines with multiple global trading partners
Broad understanding of the Canadian Regulatory requirements for Canadian Healthcare manufacturers
Team management experience with direct reports
Prior experience in planning, scheduling, transportation management, inventory management, warehouse management, finance / accounting
