Bayview Glen School Looking for Director of Alumni Relations at Toronto, ON Full Time

We’re looking for a full-time Director of Alumni Relations to join our Advancement team. You’ll be reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement and be responsible for creating, building and strengthening our Alumni Relations program to engage and foster continuing relationships with our alumni. Serving as a School Ambassador, you will support the alumni association in building its scope and programming to promote continuing alumni engagement.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Managing and overseeing the alumni relations programs for graduates of the School;
• Developing a clear strategy for alumni engagement that aligns with the School’s strategic plan in collaboration with Bayview Glen colleagues and volunteer committees;
• Planning and executing alumni events, in person and virtual (e.g. homecoming, reunions, speaker events, recreational and social events);
• Designing and executing an annual outreach program to alumni, including such elements as newsletters, e-mails, website updates, and other publications;
• Growing the alumni directory database, and developing a mechanism for alumni to connect and communicate;
• Managing the annual fund campaign to solicit donations from alumni and achieve fundraising targets;
• Creating new opportunities to engage alumni in meaningful and rewarding ways that deepen their commitment to the School;
• Developing outreach programs to engage alumni in ongoing academic activities of the School (e.g. co- op and mentorship programs to link alumni with current students);
• Providing strategic support to the alumni association to help them create and build new connections to alumni (e.g. identifying possible class representatives, suggesting alumni chapters, etc.);
• Working with the Senior Director of Advancement to create systems and roles to ensure a quality volunteer experience for Alumni Association members, committees and other alumni volunteers;
• Providing expertise and support to the Senior Director of Advancement, Advancement Committee,

Board of Directors and Faculty in related advancement activities and campaigns;

• Collaborating with the Assistant Head of Schools and the Director of University Counselling and various student associations and councils to strengthen the engagement and commitment of future alumni;
• Developing and nurturing a philanthropic culture within the Bayview Glen alumni community;

• Optimizing the use of technology to engage alumni by managing the online resources and social networking platforms and communities for alumni. Maintain/manage Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts;
• Maintaining regular communication with alumni via face-to-face meetings, email blasts, alumni webpage, print productions, digital and social media and the School’s Alumni magazine;
• Establishing and overseeing the budget for Alumni Relations.

What You’ll Need:

• Post-Secondary graduation in a relevant program (e.g. marketing, communication, etc.) with a minimum of 4 years of experience in alumni affairs, including oversight of administration of an alumni program, and a background that includes event planning, fundraising, and communications;
• Experience in program design, development, implementation and evaluation;
• Knowledge of the theories, principles, ethics, techniques and best practices for alumni relations and fundraising;
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills;
• Experience fostering productive external relationships with working volunteer boards, Parents’

Association, faculty, staff and students to optimize alumni outreach and engagement activities;

• Ability to conceptualize and implement strategies for alumni engagement and fundraising;
• Sound judgment, with the ability to proactively problem solve;
• Knowledge of relationship and stewardship development principles and practices related to fundraising;
• Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint & Outlook) and

Raiser’s Edge;

• Flexibility to work on occasional evenings/weekends;
• Willingness and ability for some travel.
