PROJECT COORDINATOR, TERMINAL CONSTRUCTION
Victoria
BC Ferries has an ambitious and growing capital plan that contains a diverse portfolio of over 200 capital projects spread across our 47 terminals. The Terminal Construction department is responsible for planning and delivering these multi-disciplinary projects and we are currently looking to hire several Project Coordinators, based in our Victoria office.
As a Project Coordinator, you will provide a comprehensive range of project and technical coordination and professional support to our Project Managers and the department. Reporting to the Director, Terminal Construction, you will assist in project planning, inspections and assessments, design development, procurement of services and materials, tender and contract preparation, and site supervision. Other duties include developing project schedules and monthly progress reports that highlight key issues of scope, schedule and budget variances, using Maximo applications, maintaining document control, and supporting or leading other terminal engineering related tasks. With guidance from your supervisor, you will also take responsibility for planning, contracting and executing smaller projects, as required.
The ideal candidate is a generalist with a strong technical and project background and has the ability to learn and manage new technical areas. You are an energetic team player and detail-oriented professional with a positive attitude and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build and maintain relationships with the project team, department staff, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders. You display strong time management and organizational skills, strong judgement in all aspects of your work, and can demonstrate a willingness and ability to undertake additional training and duties required for the position.
You bring a diploma or degree in civil or mechanical engineering with the ability to be registered with ASTTBC or EGBC. You also possess two to five years of related engineering or construction industry experience. You have an understanding of applicable codes, standards and regulations, and planning, design and construction methods relative to terminal construction. You have a valid BC driver’s license and are willing to travel throughout coastal British Columbia.
Whether it is marine, civil, or building projects, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging and complex projects, work with diverse stakeholder groups, and work in operationally complex environments. If you enjoy working on the Owner’s side of the table, these are great opportunities for you!
