The Ministry
The Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills (PSFS) provides leadership and direction for post-secondary education and skills training systems in British Columbia as well as labour market information and programs. The Workforce Development and Skills Training (WDST) is one of four divisions in the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills (PSFS) that strives to enable all British Columbians to reach their full potential.
The Branch
The provincial government provides financial assistance to over 70,000 BC students annually. The StudentAid BC (SABC) program area assists eligible students with the cost of their post-secondary education and training through various financial assistance programs, such as student loans, grants and scholarships. SABC is responsible for setting the strategic direction of student financial assistance within BC, including representing the Province in federal-provincial/territorial policy negotiations to maximize federal funding for the benefit of BC students; development and management of student aid programs totaling more than $700M in combined provincial and federal funding; and policy development that considers social, economic, and budget impacts for the province.
The Role
Reporting to the Director, Digital Delivery and Integration, the Senior Project Management Analyst is responsible for managing numerous projects (medium to long term) with significant external impact, a range of stakeholders and assigned resources. The Analyst is also accountable for defining and controlling all project activities to ensure delivery within scope, schedule, budget and specified quality. The Analyst’s responsibilities include analyzing, evaluating and reporting out on program performance; independently managing assigned policy development projects focused on the review and revision of existing ministry programs; providing recommendations to Executive on program improvement; and conducting qualitative and quantitative research and analysis on a wide range of data related to student financial aid.
Although the position does not currently have supervisory responsibilities, the Analyst may also provide leadership and guidance to staff at SABC, including both direct reports and staff from other areas involved in branch-wide projects as required.
