Within the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, the StudentAid BC (SABC) branch is responsible for management and delivery of student financial assistance programs totaling more than $700 million in combined federal and provincial funding. SABC has oversight for the designation of post-secondary institutions and approval of programs for student financial assistance eligibility; this includes public and private post-secondary institutions within British Columbia as well as institutions outside the province and country. SABC assists more than 200,000 eligible students and borrowers in B.C. with the cost of their post-secondary education and training through various financial assistance programs, such as student loans, grants, bursaries and scholarships. SABC supports students to meet their full potential through post-secondary education and skills training by offering relevant, integrated and accessible financial assistance through modern and efficient services.
The SABC Senior Support Officer (Sr. SO) supports the Student Support Team by managing and coordinating a variety of student financial assistance functions related to client service delivery and application assessment. The Sr. SO is also a resource for their colleagues, other Student Support Officers, for technical knowledge and in handling the escalation of difficult and/or contentious client issues.
