What you’ll be doing…
As an integral member of the Abilities Management team, you will work collaboratively to promote psychological health and safety across BC Transit. By providing recommendations on wellness strategies and best practice, you champion and encourage healthy behaviours that become embedded in the organization’s culture.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Partner with People Leaders to manage psychological, emotional, cognitive and physical issues that may affect job performance, and suggest strategies to support employees in the workplace.
Partner with employees and extend mental wellness resources, public health options and extended health care benefits.
Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop workplace plans to support employees in addressing performance issues when mental wellness concerns are affecting performance, ultimately to help employees stay at work.
Employ a collaborative approach in addressing barriers for return to work, and modification of individual return to work plans in a timely and supportive manner.
Provide strategic recommendations to support stakeholders in best practices and decisions.

What you’ll bring to the table…
Strong working knowledge of CSA standard for psychological health and safety in the workplace, relevant legislation including Worker’s Compensation, Employment Standards, Human Rights
Proven experience in Labour relations, disability case management, early intervention and prevention, occupational health and safety, and in enhancing meaningful working relationships with all stakeholders
Additional training on mental health such as CMHA Certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisor, Mental Health First Aid or Leading a Mentally Healthy Workplace would be an asset
We love lifelong Learners and recommend the following mix of education or certifications to be successful in conjunction with relevant experience:
Post-Secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Therapy or a related discipline.
Minimum three years of related experience in working in an occupational wellness capacity, mental health or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in the field.
Additional training on mental health such as CMHA Certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisor, Mental Health First Aid or Leading a Mentally Healthy Workplace would be an asset.
