POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, and as a member of the HR Leadership Team, the Director, Total Rewards has hands-on responsibility for designing, delivering and administering all aspects of compensation at BCI. The Director also manages a team of dedicated total rewards professionals, led by a Senior Manager, who designs and delivers global mobility, benefits, wellness and payroll services to the organization. The role works closely with the HR team on compensation matters to support BCI’s culture, drive desired behaviours and the achievement of business results which includes ensuring BCI can effectively recruit and retain top talent.
PRIMARY COMPENSATION RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the EVP, HR and VP, HR with executive compensation, including materials required for the Executive Talent & Compensation Committee (ETCC) and HR Governance Committee (HRGC) of the Board of Directors
Lead the cross-departmental Compensation Working Group which includes membership from Finance, Investment Strategy & Risk (ISR) and Public Markets
Work with executive and senior leaders on compensation-related education
Plan, oversee and coordinate the annual compensation cycle (variable compensation and salary increases), including technology and communications requirements
Ensure the annual compensation process is compliant with AIP and LTIP policies and specified audit procedures
Develop and administer base and variable compensation programs for multiple geographical locations. Improve the effectiveness of how compensation policies, procedures, and practices are delivered
Analyze market trends, program competitiveness, and cost implications of BCI’s reward programs
Collaborate with the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Employee Experience (EDI&EE) COE to ensure appropriate EDI lenses are applied to BCI’s compensation programs
PRIMARY TOTAL REWARDS/LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Define, measure and manage the appropriate HR service delivery levels for the COE
Follow priorities established in the corporate business plan and/or HR strategy, develop and implement strategic priorities and service delivery levels for the Total Rewards COE
Continually evaluate/align with organizational strategy and provide feedback to HR Centers of Excellence (COEs)
Be a champion for a culture of respect and foster a diverse and inclusive workforce at all levels of the organization
As a key partner to the extended HR team, provide key inputs into the continuous improvement of HR processes and programs and influence to align the business and HR teams’ agendas
TEAM DESCRIPTION
The Total Rewards Center of Excellence (COE) provides strategic oversight and tactical administration of compensation, benefits, wellness, global mobility and payroll. Total Rewards works closely with other HR functions: Business Partnership and Talent Acquisition to provide the compensation and benefit expertise that supports current and future employee attraction and retention; Talent Management to deliver the annual year-end performance and compensation review cycle; and the People Analytics & Workforce Planning team in ensuring a high level of data integrity.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Human Resources department provides HR leadership across BCI, in direct support of investment return objectives and delivering on BCI’s mandate. The HR department adds value as a strategic business partner, an enabler of change when mandates shift, and serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO/CIO, executive, and the board on all people matters.
