Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for monthly income statement analysis as part of month end close process. Work closely with NASSC and local accounting team to ensure that revenue, cost of sales and all expenses are reflected appropriately. Report and explain full P&L performance variances against Projection, Budget and Prior Year.
Lead the annual budget, 3-years strategic plan and quarterly forecasts for the business unit.
Work with business unit leader and marketing to understand underlying market growth. Ensure proper assumptions around volume growth, competitive wins, pricing impacts and new product launches etc are built into planning submissions. Identify potential risks and opportunities and perform ongoing tracking.
Robust knowledge of impacts to gross profit through pricing, product cost and product mix impacts. Being able to apply business knowledge to support business in identifying GP improvement opportunities.
Strong understanding of events impacting individual P&L line items and the intrecitage relationship between movements of P&L line items.
Provide support to business unit in developing growth strategies and in achieving key financial and business objectives. Play an integral part in assessing potential risks and opportuntiies to financial goals and identifying action plans to address gaps.
Solid knowledge in the distributor sales model and associated pricing impact driven by end user pricing negotiation, distributor rebate and incentive agreements.
Review balance sheet reconciliations and perform other analysis such as price volume analysis and product cost analysis during budgeting process.
Presentation of financial results at Canadian and US Business meetings.
Lead and participate in other Finance projects as required. Collaborate with other Finance team members; share and leverage best practices and new learnings.
Perform financial modelling or business case analysis as required.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of progressive responsibility within the finance field with a focus on financial planning and analysis in the Medical products, pharmaceutical or consumer packaged goods industry.
CPA Designation mandatory
Strong accounting policy knowledge such as revenue recognition and capital/operating lease.
Undergraduate degree with emphasis in Business/Commerce
Possess strong analytical skills applicable to both financial and non-financial data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
Ability to function effectively in a team environment and independently, self-starter
Self motivated, driven and ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Strong business acumen with proven track record in process improvements.
Strong Excel skills (pivots, vlookup, SUMIF)
Knowledge of SAP is a valuable asset. Experience with Business analytics tools such as BW/BI and BPC.
