Your opportunity:
Our Calgary office is looking for an Assistant Controller to join the Assurance & Accounting team and own the following responsibilities:
Working with the Business Development Team to review and assess potential client’s requirements for bookkeeping and accounting services
Design and implement accounting policies and processes for accounting service clients
Work with the accounting team to set up and onboard new clients on to BDO’s accounting services platform
Review work and tasks completed by the bookkeeping team on a monthly basis
Perform reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts (Bank, A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Equity etc.) on a regular basis
Create and Post Month-End Journal Entries (Accruals, Deferrals, Depreciation, Intercompany, etc.)
Design and prepare monthly financial reporting packages for clients (Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet)
Review GST/HST/PST/QST filings prepared by bookkeeping team
Manage client relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders

Your experience and education
Degree in Finance or Accounting
Minimum 5 years of progessive experience with full cycle accounting
CPA preferred but not required
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as, on a team
Detail oriented individual with strong organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
Experience with various accounting systems (Xero, Quickbooks, Sage) would be an asset
