We have an exciting new Human Resource Specialist opportunity available within our dynamic HR team. This role is key to elevating our HR/People Development program by analyzing and evaluating workforce data to create valuable insights to achieve strategic business results. Reporting to the Manager, Strategic HR Programs, the HR Specialist will take a lead role in the design, development, and administration of our compensation program and will be responsible for hands-on data analysis to identify trends to support business decisions.
Key responsibilities include maintenance and accuracy of employee compensation data, conducting market research, compensation program design, key project participation and tasks related to these processes. This role will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and trends then apply this data to make recommendations related to compensation, recruitment, retention, rewards, recognition, and compliance. As the Human Resource Specialist, you will:
- Perform compensation benchmarking, data collection, base salaries and incentives to evaluate external competitiveness, internal equity, etc.
- Participate in salary surveys, interpret salary data, and provide insights and data-driven recommendations to HR leaders
- Review and analyze job duties to determine scope of work including assessing and evaluating jobs to determine grade, classification, and market value for new positions.
- Maintain and update job description library and job data in appropriate HR systems for new roles and changes to existing roles, ensuring consistency among functions.
- Develop and maintain compensation structure and guidelines, contributing to the development of recommendations to the business that drive performance with strategic and competitive compensation.
- Maintain HR data tools integrity by ensuring the accurate and consistent input of data. Performs regular audits and addresses data concerns.
- Analyze data and statistics for trends, patterns, with attention to hiring practices, turnover, diversity, engagement, etc.
- Supports the coordination and compilation of data used to assess workforce and succession planning.
- Works in conjunction with Learning & Development Specialist to maintains tracking and data of Leadership Journey Path participants and overall program effectiveness.
- Keeping apprised of relevant best practices, making recommendations and administering/coordinating changes to relevant program as required.
- Coordinate and assist with human resource projects, programs, and special assignments.
The successful candidate possesses:
- 2-4 years of relevant human resource analyst/specialist experience.
- University degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources.
- Experience utilizing compensation theory, principles, and practices to perform independent analysis of programs using market data.
- Proficiency with HRMS, including applicant tracking systems, preferably Workday.
- Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills.
- Above average analytical skills, especially in other MS Office suite products.
- Must have strong data mining, quantitative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with ability to research and analyze various types of data.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills, presentation, and facilitation skills as well as interpersonal and consultative skills.
- The ability to use sound judgment, discretion, is highly trustworthy and demonstrates ethical conduct.
- Strong business acumen and organizational agility.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and part of a team with the proven ability to act in both the strategic and tactical levels in a fast-paced environment.
- High levels of initiative, enthusiasm, and reliability.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation would be considered an asset.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
