We are currently looking for an Operations Accounting Analyst to work within our Operations Accounting department in Calgary, AB.

Reporting to the Manager, Operations Accounting, the Operations Accounting Analyst is a professional accountant with 3+ years of experience in accounting or an individual with equivalent experience in business related role This role is accountable for performing Business Unit accounting functions, detailed analysis, reporting, also assisting in audits, budget, and forecasts.

The successful candidate is a collaborative team player with a keen eye for detail. The Operations Analyst will need business experience, professional and solid judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of tasks including training and supporting the business unit. This position offers opportunities for growth, contribute ideas and provide feedback in driving innovation and process improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support and perform Business Unit accounting functions including ensuring month-end accounting processes are adhered to and the financial results comply with the company’s accounting policies.
• Conduct analytical review of business unit performance and results to budget, for monthly management reporting, forecasting, accruals and actuals
• Review all weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting for accuracy and reliability
• Review and analyze business unit financial forecast including income statements, capital, and cashflows
• Upload accruals and journal entries in SAP for posting
• Prepare monthly sales commission for the MSS Sales Team
• Prepare monthly royalty payment for First Nations Projects
• Prepare and evaluate financial operating reports and present findings and recommendations
• Participate in partnership audits as required by stakeholders which includes intercompany, interdivisional and Joint Venture elimination processes
• Support Regional Management in preparing budget and forecasts
• Support management in all accounting, tax, treasury, and controls related issues
• Assist in performing ad hoc analysis for internal reporting purposes
• Liaise with Corporate Accounting and external auditors for business unit audit requests and external reporting
• Ensure proper adherence to IFRS, all administrative and operational processes, procedures, and company’s policies.
• Provide feedback to effectively design preventative and detective controls to aid in the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements. Regularly offer process improvement ideas, best practices and facilitate standardization amongst branches
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:

• 3+ years’ experience in accounting or an accounting or business related role is required.
• A professional accounting designation or in progress to completion
• Computer literate including an understanding of accounting programs and Microsoft applications
• Experience in leading and interacting with internal and external stakeholders
• Advanced Excel knowledge
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of professional interaction with various levels of operations and other departments
• Works well under pressure with multiple concurrent deadlines
• Excellent analytical skills and takes initiatives to solve problems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be fluent in English both oral and written
• SAP Business One knowledge is an asset
