Black & McDonald’s Ottawa team is growing! If you are committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you. The Damage Prevention Technician is located in Ottawa, Ontario and reports directly to the Supervisor.
Managing work orders and documenting locates
Provide sketches with markings of the locates
Utilize equipment to communicate with excavators and company personnel regarding underground facilities
Locate buried utility lines
Operate various electronic devices including use of a receiver wand and transmitter to assist in the locating and verifying of underground utilities
Mark utility lines
Prepare various reports and documentation verifying marked utilities
Adhere to safety standards and schedules

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1-3 years’ experience in similar role
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Holds a valid G licence and comfortable driving in all types of weather conditions
Must be able to navigate utilizing GPS, or maps
Must be able to utilize a laptop computer to interpret utility maps
Candidates must be able to squat, kneel, use hands and fingers to push buttons, hold receiver (piece of locate equipment) and use paint stick in the other hand for marking ground and roadways up to 9 hours a day
Candidates must be comfortable walking on all types of terrain (grass, gravel, dirt and roadways)
Candidates must be able to work days, afternoons, nights and on call coverage
