Who is BlueRock?
BlueRock Therapeutics, a wholly-owned and independently operated subsidiary of Bayer AG, is a leading engineered cell therapy company using its unique cell+gene platform to direct cellular differentiation and genetically engineer cells to create a new generation of cellular medicines that address large patient populations suffering from neurological, cardiovascular, and immunology diseases.
The convergence of cell biology and genetic engineering is creating fundamental new ways to impact disease. What Are We Doing?
Our foundational science harnesses the ability to create and then direct the differentiation of universal pluripotent stem cells into authentic, functional cells that can be used as allogeneic cellular therapies to treat a broad array of diseases. We can also further engineer these cells, enabling them to produce enzymes, antibodies, and other proteins for additional therapeutic benefit.

The Associate Director, Cell Therapy Logistics is responsible for BlueRock’s logistics operations incl. site logistics, warehousing, transportation & distribution. This includes managing a network of external warehouses and third-party logistics providers and defining all relevant standards for the company.
The role requires strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills combined with a high level of subject matter expertise. This is a highly visible role with routine interactions with across different functions at BlueRock and with ownership for multiple external relationships. We’re looking for someone passionate, dynamic, and experienced in logistics with a strong desire to build and contribute to the Company’s goal of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for BlueRock’s logistics operations incl. site logistics, warehousing, transportation & distribution
Defines storage & transportation standards (incl. cold chain) in collaboration with QA functions and support developing and updating policies and procedures to comply with good distribution practices (GDP) and import/export regulations
Defines internal and external warehousing strategy, conducts capacity planning of required warehouse space, and manages external warehouse partners and spend
Sets up and manages network of third-party logistics providers, including development of metrics and KPI’s
Establishes targeted objectives for the Logistics function, ensuring alignment to Functional goals, and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals
Serves as the internal expert and primary point of contact for all logistics activities within BlueRock
Is accountable for external warehousing & transportation spend
Collaborates with QA to ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, and other applicable regulations; support relevant investigations as required
Supports transportation and logistics activities for domestic and international movements of cell products and supportive formulations and devices between manufacturing sites and warehouses
Ensure the appropriate training and documentation thereof of all Distribution Services personnel
Requirements
BS/MS or PhD in Life Sciences, Supply Chain Management or Engineering with 13+ years of experience including also within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry; previous experience in managing supply chain activities is required
Ability to engage and align other stakeholders within BlueRock as well as with external partners, and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in a complex / changing /global environment
Excellent communication, writing, organization and presentation skills
Experience leading a group of individuals
Demonstrated ability for critical thinking and innovation
Strong supply chain experience incl. storage & warehousing and transport & distribution, especially for cold chain products. This includes demonstrated experience in warehouse management, managing distribution systems and/or integrating and working with third-party logistics providers
Experience working in GMP environment
Team player willing to work in an environment where individual initiative, accountability, and professional maturity are required
Ability to understand and communicate risks as well as developing and executing contingency plans for development programs
Ability to manage projects across different functions and organizations
Willingness to travel between Canada and US ~10-20% of the time
