MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
The Head of Human Resources for Canada is responsible for:
Leading the Canada HR function (30+ professionals) and direct day-to-day delivery of our HR services.
Partnering with the Executive Leadership team in Canada and regionally for a holistic understanding of business needs and objectives.
Developing and executing HR programs and solutions specific to the Canadian business across our Corporate and Institutional Banking client business and our service centre of excellence.
Supporting and driving transversal strategic initiatives such as programs for Early Career Talent, Enterprise Leadership Development, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
The Head of Human Resources is a member of the Canada Executive Management Committee, a member of the senior management team of the COO and of the Americas HR Management team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive, lead and implement all HR aspects of the overall strategy relating to the Canadian operations including (but not limited to) talent acquisition and recruitment activities, internal talent mobility, learning and development and leadership development, using methods adapted to talent generation and our eco-system.
Lead the delivery of HR processes and services that meet quality standards established by best practices, company policy and internal customers, with a focus on compensation (including pay equity), benefits, employee relations, performance management, training, development, safety and legal compliance.
Proactively and regularly consult with business leaders to determine workforce needs and align HR services and processes to have the greatest impact on the organization.
Develop a comprehensive learning and development strategy (in close cooperation with the region) in support of local talent growth and retention.
Devise key strategies in support of data driven organizational health.
Effectively partner with Regional HR Leadership in the development and establishment of Canada HR strategies to ensure the alignment with key business goals, overall organization strategies and proper coordination on regional initiatives.
Ensure ongoing successful implementation of a comprehensive recruiting strategy and plans to support the region’s business needs and objectives, including an effective campus strategy.
Together with Canada CEO, drive the delivery of the Canada DE&I strategy.
Act as senior advisor and provide technical expertise on HR issues to the overall HR Canada team and senior level leaders for the Canadian franchise, including the transition to a hybrid working environment.
Drive the establishment of a holistic wellbeing strategy.
Contribute to the overall strategy in Canada as a member at the Canada Executive Committee and act as lead on certain key initiatives
Actively engage with key external partners and develop a regular dialogue in support of our local and regional strategy and further strengthening of our local employer brand.
Contribute directly to the HR control framework by identifying operational risks, applying and developing risk mitigation strategies and procedures, ensuring controls are formalized.
Maintain required regulatory compliance and oversight specific to Human Resource.
TRAINING AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE
15 plus years’ progressively responsible field HR management and generalist experience with at least 5 years’ experience at the Executive level.
BS/BA in Business or HR related field required, advanced degree preferred.
Must be bilingual (English and French) – reading, writing, conversing.
Must demonstrate knowledge of current best practices in Human Capital Management.
Must demonstrate strong knowledge of job evaluation and compensation processes.
Must demonstrate strong executive presence.
Solid project management skills and approach.
Requires working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point.
SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS
Demonstrate ability to effectively lead a large team.
Experience working with executive leadership, providing coaching & feedback, demonstrating courage in taking a stand and the ability to influence.
Ability to effectively lead, provide strategic advice and drive change management.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills appropriate for all levels of an organization.
Must demonstrate ability to influence and educate clients on policy and best practices.
Must demonstrate team spirit and collaborating capabilities.
