Boeing Vancouver is seeking a junior Data Scientist to join our team, and reporting to the Manager of Data Science & Analytics. The position will be based from our Richmond, British Columbia office; however, a hybrid work style is offered, allowing the candidate to work both virtually and in the office.
The Data Scientist will apply machine learning, statistical, and other analytics techniques to the unique challenges of aviation and aerospace. You will help develop and perfect new capabilities into our applications and pipelines. You will work closely with our customers, developing understanding of their problems, priorities and business needs. You will bring your data science specialty to cross-functional project teams to help launch and maintain leading-edge operational solutions around the world.
In particular, the Data Scientist will fall under the Advanced Technology Development within Boeing’s greater Software Development & Analytics team. Depending on need and fit, this role will support one or more digital aviation services in flight operations, safety and/or prognostics.

Determines, defines and deploys predictive/prescriptive analytic solutions to meet business objectives.
Chooses best fit methods, defines algorithms, validates and deploys models to achieve business results.
Performs necessary data preparation and enhancements to models.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Richmond, BC.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Must be legally able to work in Canada
1+ years’ experience in Data Science
1+ years’ experience in Python
1+ years’ experience with SQL
Must have experience in formal collaborative development environment and version control (e.g., Gitlab)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Domain knowledge in the aviation & aerospace industry is an asset
Expertise in one of the following enabling technologies:
Cloud technologies (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud, AWS)
Large-scale data analysis technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, Pig, Hive)
Project management knowledge (PMBOK, Agile, Kanban) is an asset
Experience in production-quality data and modeling pipeline development
Experience in production-quality analytics services deployment
Expertise in prognostics, anomaly detection, or predictive maintenance applications is an asset
Expertise in applied Natural Language Processing is an asset
Education/Experience:
Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Relocation:
