The Corporate Learning Academy (CLA) Educational Technologist / Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing technology resources associated with the training, development and learning needs of The Salvation Army (TSA) Officers and Personnel of The Canada and Bermuda Territory. This role includes coordinating with subject matter experts and course developers in identifying technologies to be used in online education and training. It also entails implementation of maintenance of technology-based learning hardware and applications.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: None

Essential Functions of the Job:

Key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Moodle and related educational technologies
• Administer and monitor Moodle and other centrally supported technologies for potential problems and investigate as required
• Author, enhance and publish (where appropriate) materials to be used in supporting modules/programmes and e-learning guides
• Provide confidential administrative support for the Training Coordinator, related to the Corporate Learning Academy
• Manage daily calendar of appointments, both recurring meetings and emerging and unexpected requests
• Receive and route queries/requests for appropriate follow up and respond to routine correspondence
• Work collaboratively with colleagues in the School for Continuing Studies and the Corporate Learning Academy to ensure seamless delivery of programs
• Act as the first point of contact providing technical support to course developers and users
• Provide guidance on compliance with legislation (copyright, privacy, etc.), usability and accessibility of online materials
• Provide learning technology advice and support to those assisting in the development, adaptation or reuse of e-learning resources
• Assist with developing courses and online learning content for various audiences per design plans/consultation discussions in the LMS and/or using other course authoring tool
• Keep up to date on the latest developments in learning trends, changes in learning theory, and developments in learning technologies
• Carry out occasional surveys to get feedback from users on the quality of the centre’s courses and service
• Report usage and other data on the academy as required
• Maintain own professional development as learner, keep abreast of developments in technology and teaching and learning
• Research and propose new ways to enhance teaching and learning, promote innovation, and foster purposeful, meaningful, and creative integration of technology
• Evaluate relevant emerging technologies that have potential value for teaching and learning

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Education or Technology Education
• At least 2 years of experience in planning, designing, and producing relevant training materials or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training
• Proficient using Microsoft Suite
• Proficient in the backend use of Moodle/Moodle Workplace
• Proficient in the use of technologies related to on-line education and training
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sensitivity
• Strong communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate by distance, to maintain and strengthen contact with mission partners
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Proficient in CSS and HTML

2. Assets (Preferred Qualifications)

• A working knowledge of The Salvation Army and education within TSA
• Knowledge of Andragogy/Adult Education Principles

This is a full -time position with 37.5 hours per week.
