About Boyle McCauleys Pathways Programs
Boyle McCauley Health Centre’s Pathways to Housing Program supports people who suffer from serious, persistent mental illness, usually co-occurring with addictions and medical and social issues. Our multi-disciplinary team accomplishes this by providing access to permanent independent housing without requiring treatment or sobriety as a precondition for housing and providing outreach community support and treatment
Pregnancy Pathways is a transitional housing and support program for women who are experiencing homelessness during pregnancy and who have complex health, mental health, addictions and/or social needs.
Both programs use client-centred, harm reduction, culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches, including evidence-based best practices and innovative approaches.
Position Overview
Reporting to Boyle McCauley Health Centre’s Executive Director, the Program Director, guided by the mission and values of BMHC, is responsible for directing, implementing, evaluating and continuously improving the Pathways to Housing and Pregnancy Pathways Programs. The Program Director ensures that the programs are implemented within the framework of established professional, clinical, and administrative standards to optimize client outcomes and meet contractual obligations.
Your Responsibilities as the Program Director
Program Direction and Management:
Guide and support decision-making by teams, ensuring case plans and decisions are in accordance with program fidelity and funder and organizational expectations.
Ensure appropriate policies, practices and procedures are in place.
Contract and funder relations, contract compliance, negotiations, and reporting
Participation in committees and community initiatives focused on homelessness and issues that affect people experiencing homelessness.
Program evaluation, research, and fidelity reviews.
Financial and Administration Management:
Overseeing office, IT, and administrative systems.
Budget preparation and management.
Ensuring compliance with BMHC finance and accounting system.
Ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
Signing authority for program expenditures.
Human Resources Management
Hiring, mentoring, coaching, and overseeing supervision of program staff, including direct supervision of Team Leaders and administrative staff.
Performance management including performance appraisals, disciplinary action, and terminations.
Developing a culture of continuous learning, including learning strategies, staff development, and performance improvement.
Implementation of HR policies and practices specific to programs; compliance with BMHC policies and practices.
BMHC Leadership
Participation as an active member of BMHC’s Leadership Team.
Participation in BMHC committees, initiatives and projects as appropriate.
Contribute to strategic planning for areas of responsibility and the broader organization.
MY HOME HOUSING SOCIETY (housing arm of Pathways to Housing)
Establish, maintain and monitor effective policies, practices and procedures.
Signing authority for expenditures.
Annual reporting to the Board.
Qualification Requirements
Master’s Degree in health/human services with management education, training and experience. An equivalent combination of work experience and education may be considered.
Five years minimum of demonstrated leadership and HR/people management experience at middle and/or senior levels.
Experience in program development and administration, project management, and program evaluation.
Experience in/working knowledge of mental health/psychiatry, addictions, concurrent disorders, impacts of trauma, and homelessness interventions.
Knowledge of best practices in working with people with complex co-occurring serious mental illness-addiction-medical issues.
Knowledge of and experience working from a client-centred, strengths-based, harm reduction, and trauma-informed perspective.
Knowledge and practice in integrating cultural contexts into practice and service delivery, particularly concerning Indigenous culture.
Experience in providing outreach services in a ‘street/inner city/homelessness’ environment or equivalent.
Significant experience in multi-disciplinary teamwork, as a member and as a leader.
Responsible, organized and efficient; a continuous learner; strong communication skills.
