The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced master teacher, interested in leadership with the experience and breadth of knowledge to lead the Design team as an Instructional Leader. With a proven ability to build a caring rapport with students and a demonstrated willingness to lead faculty through shoulder to shoulder coaching, the successful candidate will join the Lead Learning Team and report into the Head, Academics.

Responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities of a teacher, the responsibilities as the Instructional Leader will include, but are not limited to:
Teach 3 sections within the department;
Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the Branksome Hall strategy in the instructional area of design;
Develop, encourage and lead an effective team within the instructional area that works collaboratively to create and deliver an outstanding education for girls;
Inspire and enable exemplary teaching, learning and assessment;
Acting as a mentor and coach, provide supervision and feedback to faculty and be an inspiring role model of outstanding pedagogical practice;
Ensure successful integration of new hires into Branksome Hall culture and community;
Provide vision and inspiration for the development of the written curriculum;
Ensure the implementation of best practice in assessment and reporting;
Ensure the innovative nature, intellectual rigour, breadth and depth of designated instructional area and keep abreast of research and major developments in the theory and practice of teaching and learning at MYP and DP developmental levels and in role-related areas;
Partner with the Curricular Integration Technology Coordinator and iHUB team to ensure design classes are appropriately supported through facilities and other resources;
Act as a school wide leader by participating in Lead Learning Team meetings, providing expertise at parent information evenings, attending Senior Leadership Team (SLT)and Management Team (MT) meetings as required, supporting and contributing to the production of academic publications, supporting staffing and timetabling, and engaging in leadership training and professional development that will enable successful performance in this strategic role.
Required Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution;
Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with I/S qualifications;
Proven teaching experience (minimum 3 years) with strong knowledge and understanding of pedagogy, best practices, etc.;
Subject area expertise across the disciplines within the program area, including digital and product design and design thinking approaches;
Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset;
Demonstrated leadership skills/potential such as the ability and willingness to supervise, assess and provide professional feedback to faculty and shoulder to shoulder coaching;
Demonstrated belief in the value of collaboration and proven success as a collaborator;
Ability to lead a team, share the School’s vision and build commitment to it within the program area;
An understanding of and commitment to interdisciplinary practice;
Possess strong oral and written communication skills;
Self-motivated with a demonstrated commitment to the school’s strategic priorities;
Display effective multitasking and time management skills;
Knowledge of relevant technology and ability to work in a laptop environment utilizing all required and recommended computer applications.
Position Parameters
Instructional Leaders will devote 12-16 hours per week to instructional leadership and teach 3 sections, with total load not to exceed 100%;
Receive a responsibility allowance;
The Instructional Leader follows the academic calendar year, with an additional 5 work days in the months of July and August to be determined by the Head, Academics.
