Permanent Full-time Position (1.0 FTE) – 35 Hours Per Week – Monday to Friday – 12 months
Salary range: $74,382 – $84,525 per year

Reporting to the Manager of Facility Services, the incumbent is responsible for the integrated approach to planning, coordination, and management of various capital projects/programs ranging in size from minor renovations to new school construction within a multi-million-dollar budget, in alignment with the Board’s strategic directions and priorities. As a leader within the Board operations team, each member contributes and adds value to integrated collaborative planning, assessment, and project execution through embracing the concepts and principles of continuous improvement.
Given the central nature of Facility Services, it is imperative the Supervisor of Construction work in collaboration and cooperation with schools, departments, and other stakeholders to build and execute oversight mechanisms for the construction and capital improvement initiatives throughout he Board to make certain that efficient and effective practices are active.
Key Job Requirements
Planning, coordination, and management of various capital projects/programs ranging from new construction, additions, and renovations for all Board facilities.
Monitor project planning, progress, and expenditures with respect to schedules and budgets incorporating project management principles.
Prepare project development plans, cost estimates, and construction schedules.
Coordinate and participate in meetings for design and construction document review, cost estimating, cost control.
Oversee the preparation of Request for Proposals and/or Tenders, as required and participate in the pre-qualification and performance review of contractors and consultants for facility projects.
Develop Board standards and specifications practices and procedures to ensure consistency in products and design standards.
Supervise external contractors to ensure compliance with related equipment upgrades and confirm deliverables meet specifications and design intent.
Coordinate the maintenance of the capital asset management database (VFA) including the completion of annual updates and Ministry of Education reporting.
Collaborate in the preparation and development of business cases for new school builds, additions/renovations, and other capital proposals.
Develop and maintain a multi-year renewal plan, reflecting the needs and priorities based on available budgets in consultation with other departments/schools.
Coordinate meetings with principals to develop scope of work for capital improvements. Investigate existing conditions/issues and identify project requirements.
Additional duties assigned by the Manager of Facility Services.
Qualifications
Post secondary education in engineering, architecture, building technology, and/or project management or equivalent.
A minimum of 5 (five) years of related experience in progressively responsible positions related to management of construction projects, preferably in the public sector.
Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, project management and computer skills are required.
Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required.
Experience in managing project management teams and ability to manage several concurrent new construction and building renovation projects. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be an asset.
Knowledge of Building Codes, engineering standards and practices, Health and Safety Legislation and Ministry of Labour standards.
Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to own transportation.
