DEPARTMENT: FOOD SERVICES POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – SERVICE STATUS: FULL-TIME WAGE RATE: $24.909 – $25.530 Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, the Food Service Worker is responsible for the preparation and service of safe, high quality food to patients.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow written and verbal job instructions (to be tested)
- Ability to follow basic arithmetic calculations (to be tested if necessary)
- Ability to demonstrate correct lifting and carrying techniques of items weighing in range of 10-50 lbs (to be tested)
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to meet Public Health standards related to food handling
- Ability to meet physical demands (prolonged standing, frequent bending, twisting, reaching, pulling and pushing of retherming & support carts)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work all shifts
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred
- Food Handler Certificate within past 5 years
- Experience working in an institutional food service environment
