British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (BCRTC) maintains and operates two of Metro Vancouver’s three SkyTrain lines. SkyTrain is the first and one of the longest, fully-automated, driverless, rapid transit systems in the world. It boasts an average on-time service performance rating of 95 per cent and moves on average 250,000 passengers per weekday.
Both the SkyTrain lines operate out of BCRTC’s Operations and Maintenance Centre in Burnaby, where more than 900 dedicated staff work in the areas of administration, engineering, elevator and escalator maintenance, field operations, vehicle maintenance, and wayside (station and guideway) maintenance.

The Maintenance Assistant maintains and updates work orders in the system; provides administrative support to shift scheduling for maintenance employees in the assigned department(s); maintains records of time sheets for maintenance employees in the assigned department(s); provides administrative and clerical support to maintenance managers, supervisors and department staff; facilitates processes to deal with unmatched invoices and/or compiling back-up documents to support an expenditure; supports Maintenance Technical Support Administrator with shift scheduling for all maintenance employees in the assigned department(s); supports the Maintenance Technical Support Administrator with administrative and clerical tasks when needed; provides short duration coverage as necessary for the Operations Maintenance Centre’s main reception and performs related duties as assigned, such being items of a minor nature which do not affect the value of the job.
EDUCATION
Requires completion of Grade 12 including courses in office procedures, word processing and spreadsheet software.
EXPERIENCE
Requires two (2) years previous experience in the maintenance of a large number of manual and computerized files and records pertaining to maintenance, purchasing, inventory and stores records. A further period of up to six (6) months on the job is required to become familiar with various systems such as Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), MyTime, Enterprise Asset Management, records, forms, and procedures.
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

40 hours per week.
Wage: $32.11 per hour
