We are looking for a People & Culture Manager (12 – 15 month contract) to join our Toronto team! The People & Culture Manager will be responsible for overseeing the People & Culture group in Ontario, consisting of one People & Culture Advisor, and will actively collaborate with the People & Culture team in Montreal. Reporting directly to the Vice-President, People & Culture, you will play a pivotal role in driving high-impact People & Culture projects and initiatives to support the organization’s objectives. This role requires a seasoned professional with a solid background in HR, and a passion for fostering a positive work culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Management
- Lead and manage high-impact People & Culture projects and initiatives corporately, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with department heads and stakeholders to identify People & Culture needs, develop strategies, and implement solutions.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Conduct regular check-ins, performance evaluations, set clear objectives, and support team member professional development.
- Coaching & Partner with Leaders
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Business Leaders to support the deliver of key People & Culture initiatives
- Provide coaching to leaders on a variety of People & Culture topics: performance management, employee relations, talent management, attraction and retention strategies
- Partner with leadership teams to proactively provide solutions and implement strategies to ensure smooth people operations
- Talent Acquisition and Retention
- Partner with hiring managers to develop effective recruitment strategies, streamline processes, and attract top talent to the organization.
- Source and partner with third party recruitment agencies for difficult to fill roles
- Implement retention initiatives, including career development programs, recognition initiatives, and employee engagement activities to enhance employee satisfaction and reduce turnover.
- Performance Management
- Drive the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback mechanisms, to support employee growth and development.
- Collaborate with managers to identify performance gaps, provide coaching and support, and implement performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Annual Compensation Process
- Lead the annual compensation review process, including salary benchmarking, market analysis, and budget planning.
- Develop and implement compensation strategies that are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the organization’s goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and finance to ensure compensation plans support the organization’s financial objectives.
- Communicate compensation policies and processes to employees, ensuring transparency and understanding.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of compensation programs, making adjustments as necessary to ensure they meet organizational and employee needs.
- HR Policy Development & Implementation
- Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures in alignment with industry standards, legal requirements, and organizational needs.
- Ensure consistent and equitable application of policies across the organization, addressing any concerns or discrepancies as they arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or related field. An HR designation is an asset.
- 8+ years of progressive experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
- Passionate about driving positive change, fostering employee growth, and contributing a culture of excellence.
- Demonstrate ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Proven experience leading and managing HR projects and initiatives.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations and best practices.
