Job Description
Reporting to the VP of Finance (Accounting), the Manager of Finance (Accounting) will be responsible for directing and maintaining the financial records of companies within Brookfield Reinsurance. This role will work with various internal stakeholders and teams to identify and implement key improvement opportunities to our accounting processes.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this position would include, among other things:
  • Oversee corporate financial records for which you are responsible with the aim of completing tasks that include the following:
  • Review journal entries;
  • Review monthly bank and debt reconciliations;
  • Review quarterly accounts receivable billing;
  • Review accounts payable tracking;
  • Review Intercompany reconciliation;
  • Review step memos and fund flows for large or complex transactions.
  • Review the consolidation and Brookfield reporting package in accordance with IFRS;
  • Prepare analysis of consolidated financial results;
  • Lead monthly/quarterly close cycles and identify opportunities to implement practical changes to drive improvements and efficiencies;
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors;
  • Mentor and coach junior team members;
  • Special projects as assigned (i.e. system implementation).
Requirements:
This position offers excellent opportunities in a dynamic environment. To qualify, candidates must have:
  • Experience with IFRS and preparation and review of financial statements (US GAAP and SOX experience is an asset);
  • CPA designation;
  • Background in public company accounting and/or industry, with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills;
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced team-oriented environment;
  • Excellent analytical, and problem-solving ability;
  • Superior communication (English oral and written) and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with large ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience is an asset)
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools, including advanced excel skills.
