In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Information Technology department is currently hiring for an IT Manager, Modernization, Emerging Technologies and AI
The IT Manager, Modernization, Emerging Technologies and AI will lead the identification, development and implementation of innovative technology solutions that will enable all business divisions to achieve their business goals, in line with Bruce Power’s site priorities. This will be achieved by integrating cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins, AI, and advanced analytics to empower cross-functional teams and drive operational excellence across the organization.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
What will you be responsible for?
Present with a proven track record of strategy implementation on new programs that align with overall business strategy.
Solicit input from various business divisions to identify gaps and opportunities where digital transformation tools such as Process Digitalization, Digital Twins, AI and Advanced Analytics can support in accomplishing business goals for our nuclear environment.
Monitor industry trends and advancements in technology to ensure that Bruce Power remains at the forefront of innovation. This should involve direct interaction with Industry partners and non industry leaders to have a holistic approach to information gathering.
Develop new technology strategies and roadmaps that align with Bruce Power’s site priorities, while leveraging Bruce Power’s existing technology investments. This will require direct coupling with strategies outlined for enterprise data governance, and data quality measurement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement technology solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes.
Manage a team of IT professionals and vendor partners, providing guidance and mentorship to support their success.
Oversee the development of project plans, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful implementation of technology initiatives.
Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure alignment and support for technology initiatives.
Be a champion for strong Organizational Change Management practices that will ensure the success of digital transformation projects.
Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated experience with implementation and technical knowledge of emerging technologies such as digital twins, artificial intelligence, and other advanced solutions in an energy utility or manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of DMBOK 2.0 and proficiency in programming languages and database technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Project Management and Supply Chain, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and advancements.
Proven ability to establish excellent working relationships with both internal and external contacts at all levels is key.
Excellent organization, planning, time management and project management abilities.
Proven ability to meet deadlines with grace under pressure
Proven leadership and managerial skills.
Excellent knowledge of English – oral and written, necessary to provide effective instructions, technical advice, presentations and preparation of various types of reports pertinent to work performed.
Strong client focus.
Understanding of a broad set of IT technologies.
Education and Experience
This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related field.
A period of 8 -10 years of experience in the field of IT and emerging technologies, preferably in a leadership role, is considered necessary to gain this experience.
Expert technical knowledge of artificial intelligence programming for natural language processing, machine vision and time series analytics.
Strong understanding of nuclear operations and safety guidelines. Must articulate areas of risk / concern regarding ethical, sustainability, governance, and safety when considering the use of AI and ML in a nuclear environment.
While not necessary preference will be given to a background in the nuclear utility industry, with an understanding of safety protocols, and information management regulatory requirements.
