The role
The Director of Corporate Development will play a key role in driving Busbud’s inorganic growth by identifying, assessing and executing impactful acquisitions, investments, partnerships, fundraisings and other strategic initiatives. We seek a personable, reliable, creative, strategic thinker who can not only roll up their sleeves to lead complex projects but also be a driver in the company’s growth planning. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in a fast-paced setting that is constantly evolving.
The Director of Corporate Development will report to the VP of Corporate Development and work closely with Busbud’s leadership team to align corporate strategy with our long-term planning and closely monitor the marketplace and competitive landscape.
What you can expect from this opportunity
Lead communication with acquisition and investment targets’ shareholders, executives and advisors
Support the company’s M&A strategy by sourcing investment opportunities, evaluating potential transactions, performing valuations, leading cross-functional due diligence teams, preparing investment memorandums, negotiating and reviewing legal agreements and assisting in the integration and tracking of newly acquired businesses
Lead end-to-end planning and execution of international transactions and strategic projects, including the staffing of external advisors and coordination of internal and external project teams
Assisting with fundraising activities, including preparing investor presentations and analyses on the business performance of Busbud and its acquired subsidiaries
Evaluate and develop the supporting business case for strategic initiatives and potential partnerships from a financial and business perspective
Working on ad hoc projects as assigned; such as assessment of new business activities and strategic shifts
How can you impress us?
5+ years of M&A or investing experience developed in a Corporate Development function, a private equity firm, a venture capital firm, or an investment bank
Significant experience leading teams to execute all aspects of transactions, including direct experience in M&A negotiation, execution, and integration
Possess deep knowledge and understanding of e-commerce and/or SaaS industries
Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance
Detail-oriented, with superior analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to take the initiative
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to communicate compelling messages to stakeholders and presentation design capabilities
Considered an asset (but not required)
Accounting, CFA or legal designation
Startup experience and/or experience with the startup ecosystem
International business or transaction experience and comfort working across varying cultures
Mobility/travel knowledge and interest
The ability to speak French, Spanish or other languages
