Position and Responsibilities

The technical services department is looking for an individual who would like to be part of a team that will provide design solutions to Cameco operations and other business units and support the development of key mechanical engineering deliverables including data rich 3D models, drawings, specifications, data sheets, bid and construction documents. In addition to performing mechanical design, you will be responsible for supporting the integration of mechanical and piping designs in Building Information Modelling process and hence enable construction, commissioning, start-up and eventually transfer to operations.

Reporting to the Lead technologist, mechanical, you will be responsible for mentoring and training of junior employees, peer review and oversight of the design work performed by other team members, and overall mechanical CAD and drawing development coordination on large projects. You will ensure all work is done in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements to meet the required quality.

Education and Qualifications

Requirements of the position:

• Diploma in mechanical engineering technology
• Six to 12 years of relevant industrial work experience
• Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
• A.Sc.T, C.E.T, or international equivalent certification

Assets:

• Experience in piping, equipment design, equipment layout, building services, HVAC, process ventilation, and materials handling and development of procurement and construction work packages
• Strong hands-on experience in 3D modelling design software (preferred experience with Autodesk Plant 3D, MEP, Navisworks), working with 3D Laser Scan point cloud data (using Leica Cloudworx, Jetsream, and Autodesk ReCap), and Autodesk Vault or similar drawing management system
• Experience with 3D laser scanning, scan data processing and development of virtual models to support Building Information Modelling will be an asset
• Experience working in a project’s environments, and managing CAD teams
• Projects will be based at Cameco’s northern Saskatchewan sites and Ontario operations. Individual will be required to visit occasionally to these sites.
