Individual Customer Technology (IC Tech) is an organization providing information technology solutions to Canada Life. In IC Tech, the Customer is at the centre of what we do.
Our IC Tech professionals make a significant contribution to the companies’ business goals through the effective delivery of value-added services. These services include setting technology direction, project management, analysis, system architecture, software development and the provision of operational support services for our Individual Customer business unit.
What you will do
- Design, develop and test software to specifications.
- Support a dynamic production environment. (includes 24×7 on call support 1 week per month).
- Provide Leadership on a cross functional team
- Consultation with the Systems Architect and Business Systems Analyst and provide understanding of system capabilities to a wide audience of business partners.
- Participate in project planning.
- Participate in code review sessions and provide feedback relative to best practices.
- Coach and mentor junior staff.
- Knowledge of software design, design methodologies, and design documentation tools.
What you will bring
- A degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a software developer role.
- Two or more of the following application development environment languages and tools:C# .net, MSSQL, PowerShell, Soap and REST APIs, OnBase, OpenText or FileNet imaging systems. Exposure to file transfer tools would be an asset. IT experience and the ability to understand and effectively work with legacy technologies and contribute as legacy applications evolve and are migrated to new platforms.
- IT experience analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and 24/7 production support would be an asset.
- Knowledge of Insurance is an asset.
- Initiative with the ability to easily adapt to change.
- Excellent understanding of software design, methodologies and documentation standards.
- Proven leadership skills with a commitment to customer service.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a team, plan and organize your own work, communicate effectively in writing and verbally in person or remotely, initiative, team-oriented leadership skills and attention to detail
