The Cancer Care Program of Eastern Health Eastern invites expressions of interest for a locum Medical Oncologist at the
Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre at the Health Sciences Center for the period of July 1 to October 31, 2022.
Eastern Health is the largest integrated health organization in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). It employs over 13,000
employees, provides services to a regional population of more than 300,000 and is responsible for provincial tertiary
health services.
The successful candidate will join nine other Medical Oncologists as a full time clinical equivalent and will be responsible
for treating a variety of malignancies, inpatient and outpatient clinical consultation service, as well as on-call service. On-
call coverage will consist of 4 weeks (one week per month) throughout the locum. Candidate will also be expected to
participate in relevant peer review and multidisciplinary tumour boards.
The Dr H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre is a fully equipped full-service cancer centre servicing the entire province of
Newfoundland and Labrador. The clinic operates in a paperless environment using Varian Aria ® software. The centre
has active tumor boards for all major disease sites.
We are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University and this position offers an opportunity to become
involved with teaching and educational activities. We have an active clinical trials group that allows for participation in
clinical studies and supports scholarly activity.

To be considered candidates must hold a Medical Degree, an FRCPC in Medical Oncology or equivalent, and be eligible
for licensure in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador. Clinical expertise in the
management of non-gynecological solid tumour malignancies is essential. Working knowledge of Aria software would be
considered an asset.
Locum remuneration is based on the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) negotiated between the Government of
Newfoundland and Labrador and the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association.
