Position Overview:
The Academic Director provides strategic leadership and oversees academic programs and initiatives. The Director ensures the quality, integrity, and effectiveness of educational programs and supports faculty development and student success in a positive, diverse, and inclusive learning environment.
Specific Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
Design, develop, and update academic programs and curricula to meet accreditation standards, industry needs, and educational trends in collaboration with other stakeholders.
Faculty Development:
Promote a culture of continuous improvement by supporting faculty in their professional development, mentoring, and evaluation. Guide instructional strategies and best practices.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement assessment tools and processes to measure and improve academic program quality.
Student Success:
Implement initiatives to improve student retention, engagement, and academic achievement. Analyze student data to identify areas for enhancement and implement appropriate interventions.
Budget Management:
Manage the academic budget effectively, allocating resources to support faculty and student needs while maintaining financial sustainability.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments, such as admissions, student services, and administration, to align academic programs with institutional goals and objectives.
Innovation:
Stay current with educational trends, technologies, and pedagogical advancements to incorporate innovation into curriculum and teaching methods.
Policy Development:
Develop and implement academic policies, procedures, and standards that promote integrity and fairness.
Faculty Recruitment:
Participate in recruiting and selecting faculty members per the institution’s values and academic standards.
External Relationships:
Partner with other educational institutions, industry organizations, and community stakeholders to enhance academic programs and opportunities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
