Construction Foreman / Superintendent

Job Brief

The Fundy Harbour Group is seeking a dedicated Construction Foreman / Superintendent who will oversee our construction process and be responsible for ensuring our construction activities are within established budgets, timelines and meet design requirements. This position presents an opportunity to work on several exciting projects in Saint John, such as the City Hall redevelopment. No overnight travel is required. A successful candidate will be a team leader with great attention to detail and monitor our projects through the construction lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the project is built according to the approved plan, specifications and approved budget.
• Resolve on-site issues and emergencies.
• Manage health and safety on-site and enforce job discipline.
• Protect the company’s interests during construction.
• Perform various ‘self-perform’ elements of the construction project;
• Collaborate with subcontractors and communicate with foremen to address any issues.
• Collaborate with the Construction Manager for all construction site details including the schedules for workers, subcontractors and recommend methods to increase effectiveness.
• Understand and drive the construction schedule in conjunction with the project team ensuring that completion dates and milestones are met.
• Create and monitor weekly “look-ahead” schedules.
• Maintain a daily log of construction site operations and identifying any gaps or areas that need to be addressed.
• Manage site administration (security, material delivery, subcontractor sign-in, equipment storage, waste removal, etc.).
• Determine that the necessary project materials are supplied to work teams including the subcontractors.
• Establish and identify on-site manpower requirements.
• Be a role model during coordination meeting with our clients and associated representatives.
• Be a keeper of construction site inventory.
• Keep construction site documentation organized.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of construction site operations and construction projects.
• Red seal or other certified trade considered an asset.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of local, provincial and federal construction regulations.
• Working knowledge and familiarity of Procore considered an asset.
• Must be well organized, detail and customer (internal and external) oriented and a self-starter.
• Coordination and management of conflicting priorities under pressure.
• High level of motivation, maturity and dependability.
• Fast learner and open to feedback.
• Team player and an ability to collaborate.

Compensation: Based on experience
