Position Summary
The MobileCare driver works closely with the health care team to provide safe transportation to and from the various destinations serviced by MobileCare in Sarnia and Lambton County. They will contribute to the ongoing development of the MobileCare program and will work as part of a team to ensure the needs of our clients are being met.
Core Competencies
Experience and confidence driving large vehicles in a variety of adverse weather/road conditions
Knowledge of travel in the area serviced by the MobileCare program
Job Duties
Safely transports the MobileCare staff to locations according to predetermined schedule.
Review schedule and weather prior to departure, discuss any concerns with designated supervisor
Monitor van maintenance schedule and ensure maintenance is completed
Ensure vehicle has sufficient fuel to complete route and use on board generator
Perform and document circle safety checks at the beginning and end of shift and monthly safety inspections.
Participate in Infection Control practices by adhering to bus cleaning schedule and hand hygiene practices
Properly set up and take down site
Greet clients and direct them to waiting area. Communicate any concerns to healthcare staff
Ensure water tanks are filled and sewer tanks are emptied as required
Wash and maintain vehicle exterior
Adhere to agency policy and procedures
Contribute to team and service efficiency
Ensure seat belts are used correctly by all riders
Qualifications:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
3 years’ experience driving commercial passenger or patient transportation vehicles
Completion of a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen
Clean Ministry of Transportation Drivers Abstract for 3 years
Valid Ontario “G” or higher driver’s license
Assets
Experience/interest working with individuals experiencing substance use and mental
health issues and/or willingness to attend training and development
Experience with travel trailer or motor home
Non-violent crisis intervention training (NVCI)
Current CPR
Defensive driver training
Hours of Work: Up to 48 hours biweekly. Flexible hours are required to meet the position requirements.
