Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Looking for Accounting & Reporting Systems Analyst at Chalk River, ON Full Time

INTRO

This position provides support for various aspects of accounting and reporting processes, including contractual reporting obligations for CNL’s client, Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL), preparation of statutory financial statements and support for internal, and external audit. Extended hours are routinely required to meet reporting deadlines. The position involves interaction with CNL finance, various line representatives and financial auditors (both internal and external). DUTIES

• Provide support for key financial reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Provide input to quarterly and annual statutory financial statements for CNL, AECL and CNEA executives within a tight deadline.
• Provide support for monthly and ad-hoc reporting and analysis
• Provide support for various finance processes (eg Accounts payable, Fixed asset reporting)
• Assist in the preparation and analysis various balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Process transactions in Oracle
• Support implementation of new financial and reporting systems and other special projects as they arise.
• Works with IT and external consultants to test and implement new financial and reporting systems.
• Participate in testing of new systems and reports
• Provides input for improvements to business processes on an ongoing basis.
• Provide backup and support to team members in Accounting and Reporting.
• Maintains good knowledge of other team members’ responsibilities and duties in order to be able to provide backup when needed.
• Assist with other finance duties as they arise and prepare and analyze ad hoc reports for end users.
• Communicate with financial data users in order to determine their requirements in order to prepare appropriate reports on an as-needed basis.
• Assist other departments within CNL with reporting requirements as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• This position requires a Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) and knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Minimum of 5 years of related industry and practical experience.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
• A self-motivated team player who can also work independently with limited supervision.
• Adaptability and willingness to work non-standard hours as required.
• Ability to analyze and recommend accounting treatment for complex transactions and communicate information in briefing notes for Executive level review.
• Ability to review and assess financial results for timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Able to communicate effectively with financial data users across functional lines with varying levels of management.
• Able to simplify highly complex financial systems processes and data flows to management for effective decision making.
• Able to work under pressure within tight time schedules and prioritize work to ensure deadlines are met.
• In depth knowledge and experience with financial systems and tools in a multi-layered application environment.
• Requires experience in preparation of documentation for audit purposes.
• Has in depth knowledge of financial reporting standards in accordance with IFRS and familiarity with PSAS. (Public Sector Accounting Standards)
• Familiarity with Oracle, Cognos reporting tools.
