PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the Analyst/Specialist Revenue Reporting role is to forecast and assist in accounting for CP’s revenue to ensure complete and accurate financial results for stakeholders and the investor community. The Analyst/Specialist Revenue Reporting also assists to develop corporate reporting as it relates to year-over-year demand, revenue, yield, and key performance metrics. The key is to prepare and consolidate accurate and timely analysis to stakeholders such as Finance, Sales and Marketing, and the external community. The role will work to develop new reports using SAP BPC or BI to aid in the analysis of variance causes and their impact on internal and external reporting.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist with the assessment, accounting, and forecasting of other freight and non-freight revenue;
Engage and support various business stakeholders in providing guidance and completing the forecasting for revenues and related activities;
Develop and execute daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports that illustrate how CP is performing to plan against key metrics;
Assist in the validation and publication of internal reporting as it relates to revenues, demand and key metrics;
Report weekly metrics on CP’s external website;
Perform journal entries and accounting processes to ensure the complete and accurate recognition of freight and non-freight revenues;
Complete relevant sections of the quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis and Annual Report;
Monitor data integrity to ensure consistent reporting;
Assist in the consolidation of revenue and key metric data for reporting purposes;
Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements and data maintenance to achieve business objectives that could be technical in nature;
Significant interaction with the business units to understand and articulate key drivers of change.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Economics or Business Administration is preferred;
1 to 2 years post qualification experience an asset;
Designated CPA or training towards a CPA designation;
Understanding of Marketing & Sales issues, company forecasting and metrics;
Demonstrated capability to interpret a wide array of information and determine key messages;
Preference given to candidates with reporting experience;
ERP/SAP, BPC, BI, and Blackline experience an asset;
Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint;
Advanced analytics;
Financial acumen;
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment;
Ability to clearly communicate both written and oral;
Strong organizational, time management and relationship management skills;
Able to work independently, and dig into technical anomalies to drive clarity and resolve problems;
Ability to bridge the gap between analytics and business understanding.
