The primary role of this position is to manage and plan car management expense activities including budgets, accruals, forecasts and multi-year planning. The position will help to assist and develop multi-year railcar sourcing strategies including financial and fleet performance analysis in support of corporate initiatives and goals.
Position Specific Accountabilities:
Responsible for overall tracking and development of all Car Management Budgeting and expense activities including reporting out on variances to plan.
Responsible for leading and developing business case for railcar sourcing plans over a multi-year period.
Recommends multi-year strategies on railcar acquisition/disposition & capital plans to support improved asset utilization, yield and growth.
Maintains relationships with Commercial, Mechanical, Finance and TTX.
Evaluates short term equipment opportunities.
Analyzes individual fleet performance for fleet sizing, acquisition and turn back opportunities.
Maintains accurate inventory of CP controlled assets.
Coordinate with car hire deprescription negotiation strategies & policies to insure CP position is optimal when dealing with Foreign Railroads.
Position Requirements:
An undergraduate degree;
3-5 years’ work experience in transportation
Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues.
Demonstrated capability to interpret a wide array of information and determine key messages;
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment;
Strong organizational, time management and relationship management skills;
Excellent attention to detail
