PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Supervisor Disputes will support the Disputes Team and Accounts Receivable to ensure timely investigation and resolution of customer and internally reported discrepancies with freight, accessorial and non-freight invoicing.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Analyze and summarize account and dispute data, making appropriate recommendations and identify continuous improvement opportunities and efficiencies;
Triage inbound disputes, prioritizing high value customers / disputes and re-prioritize workflow as required for volume or planned / unplanned vacancies;
Monitor departmental inbox(s) and ensure timely handling of emails;
Provide guidance to unionized and non-unionized staff with respect to priorities and accounting practices;
Liaison with internal and external parties to resolve outstanding disputes;
Drill down and address root cause of systemic issues with invoicing to prevent disputes;
Ensure unresolved issues are escalated appropriately and invoicing is actively monitored to mitigate risk;
Assist Manager to ensure all training materials, audit documents, process documents and work instructions are in place and remain current;
Coordinate training and familiarization to ensure adequate coverage over all workflows;
Compile and report out Dispute Metrics;
Ensure adherence to SOX and Internal Controls;
Assist other groups on an adhoc basis with various duties.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate degree;
Minimum 5 years in a relevant role;
Excellent knowledge of accounting practices;
Project management, change management or continuous improvement training considered an asset;
Working knowledge of accounts receivable, collections and dispute practices;
Financial designation (complete or in process) or business degree with financial background considered an asset;
Strong problem solving skills;
Ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines and files simultaneously;
Driving for process improvements while maintaining a high level of employee and supplier satisfaction;
Strong interpersonal and oral / written communication skills required;
Focus on providing a high level of service satisfaction to employees, management and suppliers;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with persons at all levels.
