PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
As a junior member of Corporate Hospitality Culinary team, the successful candidate will be proficient in aspects of food preparation including knowledge of pastries and baking and will support RCP chefs in providing professional food services for Royal Canadian Pacific, CP Executive and CP Training Centre.
This position is an excellent opportunity to learn about hospitality services in both back and front of house. It is ideal for a student looking to expand their experience in the Tourism & Hospitality industry, in particular giving the opportunity to work in a professional kitchen alongside Red Seal Chefs.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist in creating memorable dining experiences for all CP Employees in the Bistro stationary, CPR Pavilion and off-site catering events;
Assist with all phases of food preparation, menu planning, inventory management and cost control;
Maintain all kitchen equipment in clean and proper working condition and report any equipment in need of repair. Sanitation of all food production and storage areas;
Select and use only the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, fowl and other food products of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items. Understand proper receiving, storage (including temperature setting) and rotation of food products to comply with health and safety regulations including coverage, labeling, dating, and placing items in proper containers of kitchen and service;
Support a safe working environment by working in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS and federal health regulations;
Will Report to the Lead Chef.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1 school year of professional Culinary Training is required;
Food Safety certification (proof will be required);
Driver’s license is required;
Basic first aid, Level C CPR;
Working knowledge of hot and cold food service styles;
Knowledge of beverage presentation and preparation;
Ability to execute first class food and beverage services;
Able to maintain accurate records and checklists;
A passion for service and an attention to detail in all tasks assigned;
Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated high level of respect, discretion and confidentiality;
Ability to work appropriately with all levels of public, corporate executive and/or well-known/celebrity guests.
