As Team Lead – Volunteer Recruitment, Shared Services, you will report to the Manager, Shared Services, and play a key role within the Shared Services Team supervising the day-to-day operations of the Shared Services Volunteer Recruitment hub. The Team Lead sets team priorities, establishes effective teamwork practices, ensures appropriate team resources, and is the primary point for all Volunteer recruitment pipeline escalations .


As a Team Lead, Shared Services, your responsibilities will be divided into four main aspects:


Team Leadership

  • Manage a team of Volunteer Recruiters
  • Act as a mentor and coach of direct reports – modeling behaviors expected of others and facilitating the team in developing innovative solutions to problems
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation and training of Volunteer Recruiters and Shared Services volunteers.
  • Flag performance management issues with Manager, Shared Services
  • Communicate process changes and transitions to direct reports and facilitate implementation of changes

Escalations

  • First point of contact for issues/escalations that shift team members are unable to resolve on their own, works with clients and Shared Services leadership to resolve issues
  • Coach and work collaboratively with direct reports and/or other Shared Services and Canadian Red Cross team members to resolve issues
  • Escalate matters to Manager, Shared Services when required
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure that business service level expectations are being met

Supervising Day-to-day Operations

  • Manage workload of the volunteers and Volunteer Recruiters.
  • Support and perform Recruiter tasks to stay current and assist during times of high volume
  • Identify gaps in processes and workflows
  • Manage Volunteer Roster and recruitment pipeline queue
  • Disseminate new operations tasks and workloads to team members
  • Review issues, answer questions and monitor staff productivity, ensuring follow-ups

Response Operations

  • Participate in the rotating “On Call” process
  • In times of active disaster, may be called upon to fill roles within the people services emergency response structure
  • Maintain understanding and familiarity with emergency response systems, structures and tools

What we are looking for:

  • College diploma in a related discipline (Human Resource, Volunteer Resources, Business, Administration) and/or 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in a talent acquisition environment
  • Experience providing client service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Professionalism, credibility, and exceptional interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and establish and manage productive internal and external relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in high pressure, often ambiguous conditions & a matrix environment balancing the expectations and needs of both functional and professional teams.
  • Ability to manage transition and implementing new processes into day-to-day operations (knowledge of ADKAR model of change management an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills in English (proficiency in French is considered a strong asset)
  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems, administration or online learning software is an asset
  • Experience leading a team in a not-for-profit organisation is an asset
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours on rare occasions


Working Conditions:

  • You will be performing your job in an office environment as part of a virtual team
  • Meetings and supervision will be a combination of videocall, telephone or other electronic means
  • During times of disaster response, this role may provide Human Resources support within the HR Emergency Response Structure, or extended coverage for business continuity
