Required Qualifications & Experience
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; Doctorate preferred. Preference will be given to someone whose graduate studies was in inclusive practice, for example, critical disability theory, working with children with complex diagnoses, and working with children with profound hearing loss.
BC ECE Registry Certification as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE), Infant/Toddler Educator (ITE), or Special Needs Educator (SNE) required or eligibility will be based on current certification.
Preferred 5-10 years of experience working in a licensed early years setting, or other early years program working with children 0-5.
Demonstrated experience working with Supported Child Development programs and/or teams, including but not limited to: Infant Development((IDP); Speech and Language Pathologists (SLP); Occupational therapy (OT); physical therapy (PT); Autism Support Network;, Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health; The Pace Program.
Preferred 3-5 years experience teaching early childhood at a post-secondary institution
Evidence of research and/or scholarly work in reconceptualized early years practice
Demonstrated understanding of the BC Early Learning Framework and practice inspired by the reconceptualist movement in early childhood education, including the practice of pedagogical narration as a methodology of curriculum inquiry.
Demonstrated understanding of the current issues in the early years in British Columbia and Canada.
Demonstrated understanding of the Calls to Action in Education within the Truth and Reconciliation Report
Demonstration of active membership in provincial, national and international early years scholarly, professional, advocacy and or research groups.
Evidence of ability and commitment to leadership and collaborative work.
