Principal Accountabilities:
Diagnose cause of malfunctions or equipment failures and performs preventative and corrective electrical maintenance
Carry out Thermal Inspection (IR) testing on electrical equipment to identify abnormal conditions
Carry out Insulation Resistance (Hi Pot) testing on electrical equipment
Perform Data logging on electrical equipment.
Applying skills and knowledge electrical schematics, industrial control systems and distribution
Examines, AC/DC Motors and Drives, 575VAC power, 208/120V control circuits, 4160-volt switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays, and electrical controls
Experienced with large, powered motors, starters and isolating equipment, as well as small and large powered VFD drives
Testing performed at or above the rated voltage to determine if there are low resistance paths to the ground or between winding to winding as a result of winding insulation deterioration
Perform test measurement values are affected by variables such as temperature, humidity, test voltage, and size of the transformer
Knowledge of formal management of change (MOC) processes
Using a wide variety of test equipment to ensure proper operation of power distribution and protection, control is within the required specifications
Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance following installation, replacement or repair as well as test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors
Maintain records and documentation related to test results and recommendations
Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation
Proficient in computer skills to maintain test results documentation (MS Word, Excel etc.)
Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
Minimum of one year of experience working with control voltages, and/or PID loop controls, and/or 120/600v
Experience with electrical systems MCC environment
Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with safe work practices, such as Pre-Job Hazard Analysis (PJHA), confined spaces, job task permitting, etc.
Experience troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
Previous experience with MRO (Maintenance Repair Ops) and/or MRP (Material Requirement Planning)
Knowledge of the Maintenance Reliability process (predictive and preventative maintenance) and Predictive Technologies
Experience with PDMA (MCEGOLD)
3+ years of related industry experience with Alberta Journeyman Electrical Trade qualification or Inter-Provincial Electrical Trade Certification
