We are looking to hire an enthusiastic entry-level Operations and Logistics Coordinator to support our growing logistics-technology startup, CargoSprout. This would be a terrific opportunity for someone with the boldness to take new ideas into action.

Role and Responsibilities
As the Operations and Logistics Coordinator, you will be coordinating day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery, handling, and storage of essential goods including consumer, industrial, and food products. This involves communicating with customers, ocean carriers, freight forwarders, truckers, 3PLs, customs brokers, warehouses, and other parties as necessary. You will provide transportation solutions in case of any discrepancies, holds or delays in the movements of goods. You will report to the Operations Manager in Vancouver and receive feedback on a weekly basis. Your ability to balance and maintain business relationships with customers and suppliers is essential. Clear communication, coachability, and creative problem solving are valued. You ensure prompt service to our customers, positive rapport with our suppliers, and neutrality across all stakeholders.

• Arrange pickup and delivery of goods across N. America and ensure the smooth flow of freight.

• Oversee the dispatch of freight using a Kanban-based transportation management system.

• Communicate and coordinate with ocean & ground freight carriers, freight forwarders, truckers, customs brokers, and other service providers.

• Arrange for transport documentation such as work orders and bills of lading.

• Collect and record delivery receipts, equipment interchange, proof of delivery, and …etc.

• Record relevant shipping data and ensure data quality and data integrity.

• Prepare and send invoices using Quickbooks.

• Work under the supervision of the Operations and Logistics Manager and provide support to customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

• Resolve shipping problems such as holds, delays, discrepancies, and deviations.

• Proactively respond to service issues such as weather disruptions, delays, cancelled flights, border blockades (solved), and revised bookings.

• Gathering of claim documents, record damages, and determine facts if claims are involved.

• Follow policies, procedures, and guidance to ensure ethical and lawful compliance pertaining to transportation, safety, food, and trade regulations.

Your Skills and Experiences

• 1-2 years experience in freight operations or third party logistics environment preferred.

• A foundation in North American ground freight operations and international shipping.

• College diploma or University degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations an asset.

• Post-secondary students are welcome to apply.

• Professional English communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Professional customer service, procurement, and supplier management skills.

• Strong dispute resolution skills with customers and suppliers.

• Strong computer skills: Google Sheets, Project Management Software, Kanban, Quickbooks as well as the ability to learn new software suites and Transportation Management Systems.

• Ability to thrive and endure in a time-sensitive environment and an always-moving world.

• Ability to prioritize and allocate operational resources using process-driven problem-solving.

• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and understand cross-cultural communicational nuances at a business level (ie. Canadian, US, Japanese, Chinese, and Indian to name a few).
